Welcome Week
The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria organizes a welcome week each semester to receive exchange students joining ULPGC. This week is held in the days leading up to the official start of classes and aims to help exchange students meet each other and get familiar with the university.
During this week, with the help of some students from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (mentor students), they can also take the opportunity to find accommodation for their stay on the island during the academic year. In addition, mentor students help newcomers overcome any difficulties they may encounter during their first days at ULPGC and on the island.
Throughout the week, different academic, sports, and leisure activities are organized to help students get to know ULPGC better, start processing the necessary documents for their enrollment, and enjoy the activities.
During the welcome week, faculty students are also welcomed by the International Relations office in the Aula Magna. A presentation is given to inform all students about the steps to follow during their stay at our center. Information is provided on enrollment applications, the faculty’s study plans, the subjects they can choose, the data sheet, the grade certificate, etc.
The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, together with the student association AEGEE-Las Palmas, has designed a mentor program, the BUDDY PROGRAM, to help both incoming and outgoing students adapt to their international mobility destination.
