Library

The library supports the teaching and research activities of the School of Architecture at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria by offering services, facilities, and a collection of over 55,000 items, including monographs, periodicals, reference works, theses, standards, and audiovisual materials. It also holds a special collection of more than 3,000 volumes focused on architecture, urban planning, and art developed in the Canary Islands. The library maintains up-to-date subscriptions to national and international specialized journals, as well as key titles in the history of Canarian and Spanish architecture.

It specializes in information resources related to architecture, construction, urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture and urbanism from a gender perspective, art, aesthetics, photography, urban planning law, and design, in addition to the aforementioned Canary Islands collection.

Modeling Laboratory

Affiliated with the Center, it covers a total area of 210m².

Its equipment includes a laser cutting system, pantograph, 3D plotter, shears, circular saws, and various tools for model-making. It also has an 8m² room with an extractor for handling chemical products.

There is also an annex with 23 workstations equipped with computers, intended for the use of software for 3D rendering and design.

Construction, Structures and Installations Laboratories

Affiliated with the Department of Architectural Construction and located on LEVEL A of the building, these facilities consist of two large spaces with a total area of 280m², divided into three sections for hands-on practice and research in each field of knowledge.

Among its resources are: a beam testing bridge for reinforced concrete, wood and metal structures; a 200kN universal press; mixers; a sulfur heater; ultrasound devices; a universal electric core drill; a salt chamber; ICAR rheometer; resistivimeter; wear track; durometer; and other smaller machinery.

Model-Making Laboratory

Affiliated with the Department of Graphic Expression and Architectural Projects, and managed by a Workshop and Laboratory Technician. It covers 76.21m² and includes various resources and machines for producing small-scale models.

Photography and Image Processing Laboratory

Affiliated with the Department of Graphic Expression and Architectural Projects, this lab has a total area of 170.34m². It includes a darkroom, various manual and digital cameras, computers, scanners, a slide printer, plotter, lighting equipment, still life tables, and facilities for archiving photographic documentation.

Architectural and Urban Cartography and Infographics Laboratory

Affiliated with the Department of Art, City and Territory. The cartography area spans 153.44m² and includes two classrooms with 22 workstations each. There is also a 40.91m² area for infographics with 12 workstations equipped with both Macintosh and PC systems.

Simulation Laboratory

Affiliated with the Center, in collaboration with the areas of Architectural Construction and Graphic Expression. It is equipped with seventeen high-performance computers and a high-capacity shared drive for large files. Its purpose is to support research and teaching through architectural simulation and virtual reality as tools for design and study.

Reprography Service

With a surface area of 143.80m², it is part of the University’s Central Services.

It features a color plotter, black and white plotter, several black and white and color photocopiers, various cutters, and a color blueprint scanner.
